About Me

Dr. Greenberry Taylor is behavioral scientist working within the sphere of UX. He earned his Ph.D. and master’s degrees from the University of Florida, along with a Graduate Certificate in Spirituality and Health. Greenberry is trained in mixed-methods, including qualitative (e.g., interviews, thematic analysis), quantitative (e.g., content analysis, survey design), systematic review, and historical (e.g. oral histories, archival search, etc.) and more. His area of research focuses on the intersection of technology and health with the goal of creating and evaluating interventions,  resource development, improving communication, and problem-solving. He currently holds the position of Principal UX Researcher at American Express. 

He spent a decade as a researcher and educator in higher education. He worked on multiple grant-funded research studies and collaborated with multi-disciplinary teams of clinicians and researchers from various health science programs, including the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, and the UF Health System.

Greenberry has presented his research at conferences such as the International Conference on Communication in Healthcare (ICCH), the Association of Marketing and Health Care Research (AMHCR), the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), and the Academy of Communication in Healthcare (ACH) .His work has been published in peer-reviewed, high-impact factor journals

Prior to pursuing his Ph.D, Greenberry worked as a professional journalist. He has worked for newspapers and magazines, online news outlets, and communication organizations. While working, he held several positions such as multimedia editor, news editor, staff reporter, sports photographer, and research consultant. The combination of academic and professional experience has aided him in critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the human condition.

Outside of research, Greenberry has a passion for the outdoors, live music, photography, and popular culture. He has worked as a ski instructor in Colorado, a ropes course instructor in Alabama, and in Artist Relations at major music festivals such as Coachella, Bonnaroo, and EDC Vegas. His favorite musical artists are Ben Harper and John Coltrane, and one of his favorite movies is Hunt for Wilderpeople because it is “majestical.”

My research interests revolve around health and emerging technologies. I employ both qualitative and qualitative methods to understand individuals experiences with tech, and how that can be improved or enhanced.

My passion for understanding experiences is rooted in my former life as a long-form narrative journalist. I spoke with different people from many walks of life. No matter the person it always felt like there was a common thread in their stories.

Throughout my career as an educator I have focused on teaching skills-based courses. Overtime, I gravitated toward courses revolving around better understanding society and culture, using popular culture as a lens.
