Island Carving
Description
I must have watched Sam Alone work on this piece for at least half an hour at the swap meet outside of Aloha stadium. He carved this design into the piece of Monkeypod, tree native to neotropics, without any previously traced lines to follow — it was a free flowing, organic design from his imagination. Alone is a third generation Hawaiian wood carver, an art he learned from his father. His credo is simple: Chill. Surf. Carve.
